Bethesda Health Celebrates Pathway to Excellence Designation

January 31, 2014

(Boynton Beach, FL --) Bethesda Health, Inc., comprised of non-profit hospitals Bethesda Hospital East and Bethesda Hospital West, hosted a red carpet celebration on January 29 and January 30 in recognition of its Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

This distinction makes Bethesda the 106th hospital organization in the nation, and the only hospital in Palm Beach County to receive this award.

To commemorate this achievement, Bethesda Health’s nurses and support staff were honored during a pinning ceremony where they walked the red carpet to receive a Pathway to Excellence® pin and certificate. Employees were also treated to a picnic style luncheon for their tremendous efforts in achieving this prestigious designation.

The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish. The designation substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Bethesda Health and identifies it as one of the best places to work.

“Our community can be very proud of our entire nursing staff and the invaluable contributions they make to ensure that Bethesda can provide quality health services in a caring manner for our patients,” said Roger Kirk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bethesda Health, Inc.

The Pathway to Excellence designation is granted based on the confirmed presence of characteristics known as “The Pathway to Excellence Criteria.”  For an organization to earn the Pathway to Excellence distinction, it must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives in creating a positive work environment — as defined by nurses and supported by research. These initiatives must be present in the facility’s practices, policies, and culture. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria in the organization through participation in a completely confidential online survey.

As a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization, Bethesda Health is committed to nurses, to what nurses identify as important to their practice, and to valuing nurses’ contributions in the workplace. This designation confirms to the public that nurses working at Bethesda Health know their efforts are supported. The honor encourages other nurses to join their colleagues in this desirable and nurturing environment.
